Six Flags Fiesta Texas has once again earned one of the amusement industry's highest honors, capturing the 2026 Golden Ticket Award for Best New Show for its electrifying Fright Fest production, Monster Mash Bash, presented by Amusement Today during the annual Golden Ticket Awards held Sept.12 in the Austin area.

 

The recognition marks the second consecutive year that Six Flags Fiesta Texas has claimed the Best New Show title, following the award-winning success of The Voodoo Dolls in 2025. The back-to-back victories further cement the park's reputation as one of the world's premier destinations for live theme park entertainment.

A monster hit takes center stage

Debuting as part of the park's legendary Halloween entertainment lineup, Monster Mash Bash transforms Lone Star Lil's Amphitheater into a high-energy concert event unlike anything else in the region.

Award-winning entertainment returns during Fright Fest's 30th anniversary season

DOLLYWOOD EARNS FOUR MORE GOLDEN TICKET AWARDS!

Four more Amusement Today Golden Ticket Awards are on their way to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, with Dollywood claiming more “best of” honors than any other theme park in the world during the annual award ceremony held Saturday evening.

The Golden Ticket Awards, the theme park industry’s most prestigious awards ceremony, took place Saturday at COTALand, the brand-new theme park at the Circuit of the Americas Formula 1 track in Austin, Texas. In addition to the four category wins, Dollywood placed in two other categories. 

 

“We are incredibly humbled by these recognitions from Amusement Today. We don’t set out to win awards. Just like Dolly always wanted, we set out to create experiences that bring families together and give our guests memories they will carry with them long after they leave the Great Smoky Mountains,” Dollywood Parks & Resorts President Eugene Naughton explained. “Our hosts are the reason Dollywood continues to stand apart, and receiving honors like Best Guest Experience is especially meaningful because it reflects the care, hospitality and attention to detail they bring to our guests every day.

Dollywood continued its clean sweep of the Best Guest Experience category, which was first created in 2019. This marks the seventh-consecutive Best Guest Experience award for Dollywood (Golden Tickets were not awarded in 2020). The Best Guest Experience award combines several attributes—including friendliness, cleanliness, operations and value—into the judging criteria for the award. Dollywood is the only park to ever win the award, a nod to its friendly and welcoming hosts, as well as its clean appearance and overall atmosphere.

Alongside its hospitable hosts and world class attractions, Dollywood may be best known for its location in the picturesque Great Smoky Mountains. It is this idyllic location that helped the park earn the Most Beautiful Park award. Natural beauty creates a stunning backdrop for guests to enjoy during their time at Dollywood Parks & Resorts. The park last won the award in 2024.

“Best Guest Experience focuses on friendliness, cleanliness, ride operations and value. These qualities culminate so wonderfully at Dollywood,” said Tim Baldwin, Golden Ticket Awards Communications Coordinator, Amusement Today. “Being a finalist in six categories and winning the top spot in four truly speaks to the quality this park offers.

“It is interesting to see this recent tug-of-war between Dollywood and Busch Gardens Williamsburg for Most Beautiful,” Baldwin continued. “Sometimes a pretty setting can be taken for granted, but when a park focuses on creating a stunning environment, it makes a pleasing impact on the experience. Fun thrills are balanced with a beautiful setting.”

Dollywood’s Wildwood Grove also earned its seventh consecutive award for Best Kids’ Area. The park first won the award in 2019 after that season’s opening of the expansive new land. Wildwood Grove should figure prominently in the running for the award next year as well, due to the recent opening of the park’s much-anticipated NightFlight Expedition in the area. In addition to NightFlight Expedition, Wildwood Grove includes several family friendly rides and attractions including two other guest-favorite roller coasters, Big Bear Mountain and Dragonflier.

 

Big Bear Mountain earned its fourth win in the Best Family Coaster category. With three launches, on-board audio, plenty of airtime and a number of thrilling moments, Big Bear Mountain has quickly become one of the park’s flagship attractions since its addition in 2023.

 

“When Amusement Today introduced Best Family Coaster in 2023, we wanted to shine a spotlight on the importance of rides that the whole family can share together,” said Baldwin. “Extreme thrills are great, but the family dynamic is ever-so important. Those are lasting memories kids carry with them as they grow up, and then they want to share that same experience with their own kids one day. Big Bear Mountain has performed spectacularly for Dollywood in this regard, carrying the category since the roller coaster opened.”

Dollywood also placed in two additional categories. The park was ranked the #2 Best Park in the world behind Europa-Park in Germany. Dollywood’s thrilling Thunderhead coaster remained ranked in the Best Wooden Roller Coaster category, finishing sixth. 

 

One honor routinely won by the park, Best Christmas Event, was retired in 2024 after Dollywood won the award for 15 consecutive years. Golden Ticket Awards staff opted for retirement and then named Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas as the legend for Christmas theme park events.  

 

Calculated from an international poll conducted by Amusement Today, the industry’s leading trade publication, the Golden Ticket Awards are the result of a detailed survey sent to a database of hundreds of experienced and well-traveled amusement park fans, industry journalists and ride manufacturers around the world in balanced geographical regions. Voters are asked to rate the “best” in a number of categories such as best parks, roller coasters, water rides, food and more. The pool of eligible voters changes every year to ensure the same votes are not cast each season.

The Golden Ticket Awards are the most sought-after awards in the business of amusements and attractions. The awards have become the subject of much discussion by park aficionados the world over and have garnered mentions throughout notable media outlets. The awards also were the topic of a one-hour Travel Channel documentary.

The fun continues with the fall family tradition that is Dollywood’s Harvest Festival presented by Humana. The event, which begins today and runs through Oct. 31, celebrates the beauty of fall in the Smokies with thousands of carved pumpkins, spirited performances from talented singers and the fun of Great Pumpkin LumiNights. New this year is Harvey’s Boo Bash, Dollywood theme park’s very first separately-ticketed, after-hours special event. Harvey’s Boo Bash is set to carve out a new fall tradition, serving up a harvest of family-friendly fun and festivities after dark. The season concludes with the festival known as the industry’s Best Theme Park Christmas event —Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas presented by Humana (Nov. 6- Jan. 3, 2027).  Guests can enjoy 6 million lights, festive holiday shows and the warm Christmas atmosphere they have come to expect during this joyous time of year.

Fat One's Hot Dogs & Italian Ice to Officially Open on Saturday, September 19 at Universal Orlando Resort!

 Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice, founded by *NSYNC member Joey Fatone and his manager Joe Mulvihill, will officially open at Universal Orlando Resort on Saturday, September 19, bringing even more flavor to Universal CityWalk.

Fat One’s will serve up a “must-eat” menu that includes a selection of nine gourmet hot dogs piled high with creative toppings, such as The Fat One (footlong hot dog topped with roasted pork, pepperoni, chili beans, cheddar cheese sauce, red onion sauce, pop fries, and chives on a soft bun), The Brazilian (grilled linguica sausage with onion sauce, jalapeño veganaise, cotija, Calabrian honey, red peppers, cilantro, and potato sticks on a brioche bun) and the Dirty K-Pop Dog (Korean-inspired hot dog with kimchi slaw, spicy gochujang mayo, scallions, crispy onions, and black sesame on a brioche bun). Diners can also enjoy authentic Italian ices in a variety of flavors and specialty beers - giving guests another bold and delicious option to enjoy at the destination.

To celebrate the venue’s official opening, Joey Fatone and Joe Mulvihill will make a special appearance at Fat One’s to welcome its first guests on September 19. Six Flags Magic Mountain Announces Thrill Glider, the World's First Thrillglider Roller Coaster, Opening in 2027!

 Six Flags Magic Mountain, the Thrill Capital of the World and one of Southern California's premier theme parks, today announced that Thrill Glider, a first-of-its-kind roller coaster, will debut in 2027. Created exclusively for Magic Mountain, the attraction combines flying, motorbike and suspended coaster technologies to establish an entirely new roller coaster category: the Thrillglider. It will combine the freedom of flight with the intensity of a multi-launch thrill coaster, delivering an experience unlike anything guests have ever ridden.

Developed by world-renowned coaster manufacturer Vekoma for Six Flags Magic Mountain, Thrill Glider riders will board hovercycles — flying-bike vehicles — and assume a prone, face-forward position suspended beneath the track. The custom-designed, terrain-following layout encompasses 20 unique track elements and packs an action-filled 80 seconds into a dynamic aerial adventure. Guests will launch multiple times to speeds reaching 50 mph, encounter 12 airtime moments, soar through five unique inversions (wing-over, zero-g roll, overbanked stall turn, barrel roll and upward barrel roll) and race through a dramatic station fly-by as they traverse nearly 3.5 acres. Enhanced by synchronized onboard audio and immersive lighting effects, every moment is designed to amplify the sensation of speed, flight and freedom.

Thrill Glider will immerse visitors in the world of QuantumPulse Propulsion Systems, a visionary technology company led by inventor and entrepreneur Rebecca Silva. The journey begins long before takeoff in "The Futurist Pavilion," a sleek showcase facility filled with dynamic displays, holographic presentations and scientific exhibits detailing the company's discovery of PSR B417, a powerful new energy source with the potential to transform tomorrow. As riders make their way through the queue, they catch glimpses of towering hexagonal collectors embedded into the hillside, harvesting energy from distant pulsars in space. Upon entering the load station, illuminated blue energy lines, aerodynamic architecture and pulsing atmospheric audio build anticipation as riders prepare to board QuantumPulse's latest breakthrough. Once launched, the power of PSR B417 will be felt firsthand as the vehicles soar above the landscape through sweeping maneuvers, sudden dives and weightless moments that simulate piloting a high-speed hovercycle powered by tomorrow's technology. Blending engaging storytelling, futuristic design and advanced coaster technology, Thrill Glider delivers a one-of-a-kind adventure that transports guests into an optimistic vision of the future.

For others, it's the feeling of soaring through the air, experiencing weightlessness for the first time or sharing an unforgettable ride with family and friends.  As the park continues to evolve, it is introducing attractions that appeal to a wider range of guests while maintaining its reputation as the Thrill Capital of the World. Thrill Glider represents that vision, delivering a new kind of excitement that makes the sensation of flight accessible to more riders than ever before. With a minimum height requirement of just 48 inches, Thrill Glider will be open to a broad range of thrill seekers, from families and first-time coaster riders to dedicated enthusiasts.

Thrill Glider will be located on the former site of the Golden Bear Theatre between Full Throttle and LEX LUTHOR™: Drop of Doom and adjacent to the recently reimagined Looney Tunes™ Land. The ride is already under construction and is scheduled to open in 2027. Additional details and opening information will be announced at a later date.

Countdown to Flight

Guests can lock in their seat to be one of the first to ride Thrill Glider with a 2027 Season Pass, available now. The lowest price of the season was recently extended and is available through Sept. 13, allowing unlimited flights in 2027, as well as park access for the remainder of 2026. Guests can begin the countdown today and watch as Thrill Glider takes shape while also enjoying this year's Fright Fest, Tricks and Treats and Holiday in the Park seasonal celebrations. Passholders also receive regional access to multiple parks across the West Coast, including Knott's Berry Farm featuring the newly opened MonteZOOMa: The Forbidden Fortress and the park's legendary Halloween celebrations, Knott's Scary Farm.
