Holiday Horizon Drone Show to Debut at Wild Adventures

Wild Adventures Theme Park will debut the Holiday Horizon Drone Show on Dec. 20, a large-scale holiday display that will send synchronized drones and festive music into the night sky during the park’s Christmas Wild & Bright celebration.

The show will feature choreographed drones forming colorful holiday scenes set to classic and modern Christmas music, creating a high-energy finale for guests visiting South Georgia’s largest Christmas festival.

The show is included with park admission and will begin at 9 p.m.

 

“We are excited to introduce a new Christmas drone show,” said Asher Raymond, public relations specialist. “Our guests enjoyed the luminescent lights from the Summer Nights Drone Show and the cozy fall feeling of the LumiNight Skies Drone Show earlier this Season. With the Holiday Horizon Drone Show, we’ll bring fresh sights and sounds that capture the Christmas spirit.”

 

The drone show takes place during Wild Adventures Christmas Wild & Bright, a family-friendly holiday event that transforms the park once the sun sets with over two million lights, tasty Christmas treats and eats and dazzling entertainment across the park.

 

“The Holiday Horizon Drone Show adds a new layer of bright, wild fun to Wild Adventures Christmas Wild & Bright,” said Donald Spiller, general manager & vice president. “Not only can guests experience their favorite rides and animals, meet Santa Claus at Santa’s Outpost and see some festive holiday entertainers, the night ends perfectly with a dazzling display of colorful, holly jolly drones.”

 

Wild Adventures is also bringing the Christmas spirit to the local community. As part of the park’s partnership with Toys for Tots, guests who bring a new, unwrapped toy valued at $10 or more can receive a single-day admission ticket for just $19.99, available on select days through Dec. 31.

Dorney Park Wraps Up Successful “Heroes for the Holidays” Event

Dorney Park successfully hosted its annual Heroes for the Holidays event today, welcoming 36 local students and more than 60 first responders and volunteers for a meaningful day of connection and holiday cheer.

Held inside White Water Tavern, the event featured a warm meal, gift-wrapping activities, and time for students to engage with police, firefighters, EMTs, school partners, and community organizations in a positive, supportive setting.

Participating partners included South Whitehall Township Police, Pennsylvania State Police, Cetronia Ambulance Corps & VFD, Upper Macungie Township Police, Parkland School District, Parkland CARES, and additional volunteers.

“Heroes for the Holidays is an incredible opportunity to bring our community together,” said Kim Solis, Park Manager for Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom. “We’re grateful to all the first responders and partners who helped create such a special experience for these students.”

Summer brings the return of the award-winning immersive western adventure Ghost Town Alive!, featuring a new storyline set in the town of Calico. The adventure continues long after the sun goes down for Knott's Summer Nights, which offers exciting live music, DJs and backyard games. The summer season starts on select dates from June 12 through August 30. Summertime at Knott’s wouldn't be complete without a visit to Knott's Soak City Waterpark, open on select dates from May 16 through Sept. 7, where guests can enjoy 23 different slides, a relaxing lazy river, an interactive kid's area, and The Wedge, a thrilling family raft ride. 

 

For fall, the spooktacular family-friendly daytime Halloween event Knott's Spooky Farm takes place Thursdays through Sundays Sept. 24 to Oct. 31. Families with little ghouls are invited to celebrate the spooky season with Halloween-themed activities and live entertainment.  

 

As winter rolls in, guests can find the spirit of the season at Knott's Merry Farm, where joy will fill the park from Nov. 20 through Jan. 3, 2027, as holiday cheer and classic Christmas festivities create new holiday memories. 

 

 

Magic Mountain’s Seasonal Events 

A 2026 Gold Pass to Six Flags Magic Mountain, known as the Thrill Capital of the World, includes unlimited thrills with access to all the 2026 seasonal events. Summer at Magic Mountain ushers in a thrilling experience with the return of DC Heroes and Villains Fest, where the vibrant world of Gotham City comes alive in an engaging theatrical adventure. Running on Fridays and Saturdays from June 19 to July 25, the festival invites guests to immerse themselves in a captivating, interactive storyline filled with live-action moments, daring stunts, lively music and comedic performances. Families can enjoy Tricks and Treats, a kid-friendly Halloween event featuring mischievous tricks, tasty treats and bewitching entertainment, as well as Oktoberfest, which is a feast of Bavarian brews and bites that evoke the spirit of Munich. Both celebrations take place Fridays through Sundays Sept. 25 to Nov. 1.  

 

As the autumnal sun sets, the park introduces the spine-chilling Fright Fest, which runs from Sept. 18 through Nov. 1. This highly anticipated annual event beckons thrill-seekers and horror enthusiasts to delve into the heart-pounding excitement and terror that only Fright Fest can deliver. Guests can explore haunted mazes and scare zones, while also enjoying shows and rides for frightful thrills. 

 

Winter transforms Magic Mountain into the spectacular Holiday in the Park from Nov. 26 to Jan. 3, 2027, creating a magical winter wonderland adorned with over two million twinkling lights and larger-than-life walk-thru ornaments. Six Flags Over Texas Releases 2026 Operating Calendar and Daily Tickets Through Labor Day!

Today, Six Flags Over Texas released its 2026 operating calendar and good any day tickets with daily tickets through Labor Day available starting Dec. 10. The park, currently in full swing of its beloved winter event Holiday in the Park, will take a seasonal break, closing Jan. 5 through Feb. 27. During this period, the park will kick off preparations for the 2026 season and its highly anticipated 65th anniversary milestone. Highlights for next year’s celebration include new entertainment, food and beverage items, attractions enhancements, park-wide beautification programs, and of course, the previously announced opening of the record-breaking giga dive coaster Tormenta Rampaging Run and new restaurant, Cocina Abuela. Six Flags Over Texas will reopen Saturday, Feb. 28. A full list of events, dates and park updates will be released early next year.

LEGOLAND® Florida Resort Ignites the Night With an Out-of-This-World Tree Lighting Celebration Revealing February 27, 2026 Opening for Galacticoaster in new LEGO® Galaxy!

LEGOLAND® Florida Resort blasted off the holiday season with an intergalactic celebration that not only illuminated the Park’s iconic 30-foot-tall LEGO® Christmas Tree but also revealed the official opening for the Resort’s all-new indoor family space-themed rollercoaster, Galacticoaster, launching on February 27, 2026.  

Emily Calandrelli, acclaimed science communicator, beloved TV host, aerospace engineer, and the 100^th woman in space, took center stage to lead the countdown. Her passion for space and STEM inspired the crowd as she lit the massive brick-built tree for the first time this season, signaling the start of the Resort’s festive period. The partnership brought a powerful blend of real-world space exploration and imaginative LEGO creativity, inviting families to dream bigger and look upward as they celebrated the holidays. 

As the ceremony unfolded, the sky erupted into a fully choreographed space spectacle, with hundreds of synchronized drones forming glowing shapes including rockets, LEGO bricks, and the Resort’s brand-new character, Space Creature. The custom-designed show was created exclusively for LEGOLAND Florida, blending cutting-edge drone technology with the unmistakable playful personality of LEGO storytelling.  Galacticoaster invites guests to design their own spacecraft using interactive touchscreens and RFID wristbands capable of recognizing 625 possible design combinations. As guests board, their personalized spacecraft becomes part of a dynamic interstellar journey powered by synchronized lighting, projection, an immersive LEGO solar system, projection sequences, and character-driven story moments – all culminating in a fully customized ride experience unlike anything the Park has offered before. The new area will also feature a DUPLO® space-themed play experience and a dedicated LEGO Galaxy retail shop.  

To further add excitement to the opening, Merlin Entertainments is also launching a nationwide Junior Galaxy Explorers initiative, inviting children ages 6 to 12 to design and build their own LEGO spacecraft for a chance to become one of the first riders on Galacticoaster. Six Flags Great Adventure Concludes GreatFUL November With Community Partnerships and More Than 350 Letters for Local Service Members

Six Flags Great Adventure wrapped up its month-long GreatFUL November initiative with a series of community-focused programs supporting local families, nonprofit partners, and military service members.

As part of the park’s tribute to the military community, guests and team members contributed more than 350 handwritten letters for local service members. Great Adventure is partnering with the Joint Military and Family Assistance Center to distribute the letters in time for the holidays.

 

Throughout November, Great Adventure also collaborated with organizations that support children and families across the region, including CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia), A Kid Again, Big Brothers Big Sisters, local food pantries, and additional youth-focused nonprofits.

 

The centerpiece of GreatFUL November was the park’s Day of Giving on November 15, which welcomed more than 2,700 children and family members for a complimentary day of rides, exclusive access to Jr. Thrillseekers, and warm meals served by Six Flags team members.

 

GreatFUL November reflects the park’s ongoing commitment to uplifting the community, supporting families, and creating joyful experiences beyond the park gates.

PETE OWENS, ATTRACTIONS INDUSTRY VETERAN, ACCEPTS NOMINATION AS NEW MUSEUM CHAIRMAN

The National Roller Coaster Museum and Archives (NRCMA), the world’s largest collection of historic amusement artifacts, has selected Pete Owens, a 26-year veteran of the attractions industry, as its new chairman. He succeeds Jeff Novotny, also an industry veteran, who served as chairman for seven years.

“It is an honor to be nominated by and to succeed Jeff Novotny as the chairman of the NRMCA Board of Directors,” said Pete Owens, incoming Chairman of the NRCMA Board of Directors. “I very much look forward to working with my fellow volunteers on the board to continue our momentum and bring this museum to life.”

• Gary Slade

Owens joined the museum board in 2009. He has assisted with media outreach efforts for the museum and was instrumental in creating a temporary exhibit for Coaster Con in 2013.
