SeaWorld San Antonio Opens Barracuda Strike, North America’s Tallest Inverted Family Coaster!

New high-speed attraction opens just in time for Spring Break as the park launches daily operations and a limited-time Season and Annual Pass deal that includes Aquatica for free.

SeaWorld San Antonio is making waves once again with the grand opening of Barracuda Strike, the park’s newest attraction and the tallest inverted family coaster in North America. Opening to the public today, Barracuda Strike delivers high-speed excitement and a soaring ride experience designed for thrill-seekers of all ages. The debut marks the beginning of Spring Break, with the park operating daily until March 22. Furthermore, the park is in the midst of its Spring Break Sale where guests can purchase a Season or Annual Pass and get Aquatica for free.

Being that this is Women’s History Month, the ribbon cutting included paying homage to some of the park’s female leadership team who were instrumental in the creation of Barracuda Strike. Also recognized was the local girl’s group, Latinitas, an after-school program for young ladies interested in STEM and leadership training. SeaWorld’s female leadership team mingled with the girls hoping to inspire and encourage their Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math journey.

Suspending riders beneath 1,800 feet of track, Barracuda Strike offers a smooth and exhilarating journey that combines sharp turns and breathtaking drops. The adventure begins with a dramatic 90-foot lift hill before launching guests into a dynamic layout filled with tight turns and swooping dives, reaching speeds of up to 44 miles per hour.  As riders twist and turn above the park’s iconic waterski lake, Barracuda Strike creates a sensation of flight that mirrors the swift movements of its namesake. Designed as a true family thrill attraction, Barracuda Strike features a minimum height requirement of just 42 inches, making it an ideal shared adventure for families and a perfect gateway coaster for younger or less experienced riders ready to take on their first major thrill.

With its record-setting height for an inverted family coaster, dynamic ride layout, and striking waterfront setting, Barracuda Strike becomes a centerpiece addition to SeaWorld San Antonio’s growing lineup of attractions. Guests can begin riding today as the park celebrates the official launch of Spring Break.

Christopher Bennett, a partner at the international law firm Dentons, has more than twenty-five years of legal experience in the hospitality and leisure industries. Meyering has served in various operations management roles at Six Flags since 2021. He joined Six Flags from The Walt Disney Company, where he served as Commercial Strategy Manager, Commercial Integration & Franchise Management.

“As we enter the next chapter for Six Flags, now is the right time to bring in new leadership with relevant skills and fresh perspectives to advance our key priorities,” said Six Flags President and CEO John Reilly. “Amy and Christopher are recognized leaders who bring considerable experience in marketing, hospitality, legal affairs, governance and complex consumer-facing businesses. Chris Meyering has helped successfully implement key commercial initiatives during his time at Six Flags, and we are confident he will continue to make valuable contributions in his new role. Their expertise will augment our leadership team’s capabilities as we continue to improve profitability, strengthen the Company’s balance sheet and focus resources on the highest-return opportunities across our irreplaceable portfolio.”

Reilly continued, “Marketing is central to how we attract guests, deepen engagement, grow season pass and membership participation and build stronger relationships with consumers across our parks. Amy’s experience leading data-driven marketing organizations at major travel and hospitality brands is highly relevant to Six Flags as we sharpen our commercial strategy and build on the momentum underway entering the 2026 summer season.”

“I also want to thank Brian Witherow, Christian Dieckmann and Brian Nurse for their service and many contributions to Six Flags. They played key roles in helping the Company navigate a transformative period following the merger with Cedar Fair, and we wish them the best in their next chapters,” Reilly concluded.
