Sesame Place Re-Opens March 27 to Kick Off Its 4th Birthday Celebration!

Sesame Place San Diego, the only theme park on the West Coast based entirely on the award-winning show Sesame Street®, is reopening its doors this spring. Set to open Friday, March 27, the park will welcome guests and Pass Members with a special celebration—Sesame Place San Diego is turning four. This re-opening birthday bash will be filled with sweet treats and festive fun as Elmo and friends bring laughter, hugs, dancing, and plenty of furry excitement to mark the occasion.

Sesame Place will open daily for Spring Break from March 27 through April 5, after which the park will transition to a weekends‑only schedule until Memorial Day weekend, when daily operations resume. Guests are invited to enjoy their favorite attractions, including family-friendly rides, the Sesame Street Party Parade, Storytime with Big Bird, meet and greets with Sesame Street friends throughout the park, and a host of seasonal events running through end of year.

4^th Birthday Celebration

The park will come to life with birthday-themed festivities and exclusive offerings throughout the day on Friday, March 27, including:

• Furry Friends Birthday Dance Party – Dance, sing, and groove along with your Sesame Street friends at this interactive dance party as we celebrate four years of furry fun at Sesame Place San Diego!

• Birthday Sweet Treat and Giveaways – Pick up a FREE birthday treat (while supplies last) and FREE Sesame Street-themed birthday headband (while supplies last) at the Sunny Day Café starting at 10 a.m.

• Birthday Storytime - Gather on the Neighborhood at Big Bird’s Nest for a special birthday-themed story time with one of your Sesame Street friends. Don’t miss the sing-along moment at the end during this interactive experience that everyone can enjoy.

• Birthday Photo Meet & Greets - Snap a photo and get a furry hug from one of your Sesame Street friends dressed in their fun and festive birthday party attire!  

• Birthday Shout-Outs – Guests celebrating their birthday in March can have their names announced during the Furry Friends Birthday Dance Party.

 

Upcoming - Spring Seasonal Events

Spring comes to life at Sesame Place San Diego with Elmo’s Springtacular, a family-friendly event that celebrates nature, art, and all that makes the spring season so special. Guests can enjoy a spring-themed scavenger hunt, chalk art, Spring Storytime and additional activities. The event will run every weekend and select dates from March 27 through May 22.

 

Guests can enhance their day with unique dining experiences including Dine with Elmo at the Sunny Day Cafe, offered daily on park operating days. On April 4 and 5, the park offers Easter Dine with Elmo. Elmo, the Easter Bunny, and more Sesame Street friends will welcome families for a special Easter Dine with a delicious buffet meal and fun photo opportunities. Dine with Elmo requires a reservation and is an additional cost.

 

Rides and Attractions for the Whole Family  

Sesame Place San Diego offers attractions for all ages, from a child’s first roller coaster to an Elmo-themed rocket ship adventure.  The interactive Sesame Street Neighborhood provides opportunities to learn and play through engaging and colorful activities. The Sesame Street Neighborhood is also full of unique photo opportunities with everyone’s favorite furry friends.

Although the water rides and attractions are not yet open, guests will be able to enjoy them later this spring as the weather warms. Visitors can look forward to cooling off in The Count’s Splash Castle, experiencing the thrill of Cookie’s Monster Mixer, catching a wave in Big Bird’s Beach and more. These water attractions are designed to provide refreshing, family‑friendly fun throughout the summer season!
