SeaWorld Orlando turned up the terror and the tempo tonight with Scream & Sweat, a one-night-only preview for media and invited guests that transformed Nautilus Theater into a wildly warped '90s fitness studio. Scare actors put a killer twist on ordinary aerobics, giving media and content creators a high-energy first look at the haunted houses, scare zones and newest character coming to Howl-O-Scream 2026.
Led by an over-the-top emcee with the cadence and charisma of a late-night fitness infomercial, the class moved through a series of killer workouts. With ’90s attitude, hellish intensity and zero mercy, each routine introduced a different nightmare from this year’s event through sinister spins on classic aerobics and jazzercise-inspired moves.
Pestilence Spreads a New Reign of Terror
The workout ended with the surprise arrival of Pestilence, a haunting new force in the Howl-O-Scream story. With powers rooted in contagion and corruption, she spreads sickness, weakness and obsession, breaking her victims’ will before they realize they have been chosen. Draped in poisonous green and corrupted purple, Pestilence embodies “toxic elegance” and wields the Venom Whip, a barbed weapon coated in a deadly toxin.
Long before Havoc built his empire, Pestilence rode beside him as his first love and his first mistake. Havoc craved speed, chaos and freedom; Pestilence wanted devotion and a slower, deeper destruction that would rot the world from within. When he left without looking back, she waited as his victories grew and his lies festered. Now she has returned not for forgiveness, but to finish what they started and remind Havoc that some infections never leave.
Her influence reaches "Nekrosis," the seaside town frozen in the final minutes of 1999. There, Pestilence weaponized nostalgia, infecting memories and turning the sounds and technology of the decade into instruments of terror. The town has become ground zero for an infection that now threatens to spread throughout Howl-O-Scream.
"Scream & Sweat gave us a playful, unexpected way to introduce the incredible range of characters and stories our Entertainment team has created for this year's Howl-O-Scream," said Cindi Miller, vice president of entertainment at SeaWorld Orlando. "The energy may have felt straight out of the '90s, but Pestilence brings an entirely new threat to the night. This was only a warm-up for the terrifying experience waiting for guests this fall."
All-New Haunted Houses, Featuring Original Concepts and “I Know What You Did Last Summer”
An all-new haunted house inspired by the Sony Pictures horror movie, “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” makes its terrifying debut. The immersive experience invites guests to step beyond the screen and into a nightmare where every secret has a price and every corner hides the vengeful Fisherman.
In addition, four all-new original haunted houses include the cyberpunk vampire nightmare "Dark Net," a suburban open house overtaken by unexplained horrors in "Everything Must Stay," the eternal undead party of "Raveyard," and the failed underground containment site hidden inside "Crawlspace."
Six Immersive Scare Zones
Terror spills into the streets across six immersive scare zones. In "Nekrosis," a seaside town remains trapped in the aftermath of a disastrous Y2K celebration. "Just One More Chapter" turns dark romance into a dangerously alluring garden of obsession and betrayal, while returning favorites "Woodrot Hollow" and "Trailer Park Tragedy" bring back forest decay and twisted dark humor. The end of the world unfolds in "Dooms District," and a horrifying infestation reaches its breaking point in "Extermination Order."
More Fear After Dark
Howl-O-Scream also features five all-new immersive themed bars, frightfully delicious food and beverages, electrifying live entertainment and four exhilarating rides in the dark. Live entertainment includes a new twist on the high-energy stunt show “Throttle” and the return of fan-favorite musical production “Monster Stomp.”
