Cedar Point’s popular Happy Friar’s Fresh-Cut Fries Fest returns Sept. 10 – 13, 2026, celebrating one of the park’s most iconic foods: fresh-cut fries. The annual food festival features limited-time loaded fry creations, appearances by the beloved Happy Friar mascot and free admission for guests whose last name is “Fry.”
Served hot and fresh since 1942, Cedar Point’s fresh-cut fries have become a signature park tradition and a must-try snack for visitors to America’s Roller Coast®. During this four-day event, guests can enjoy exclusive menu items available only during Happy Friar’s Fresh-Cut Fries Fest.
Limited-Time Fresh-Cut Fries Creations
At Happy Friar, located near the Gemini roller coaster, guests can enjoy:
- Barbacoa Fries: Fresh-cut fries topped with 13-hour smoked beef barbacoa from Cedar Point’s Miss Keat’s restaurant, pickled red onions and queso.
- Poutine Fries: Fresh-cut fries topped with fresh cheese curds and savory beef gravy.
At Hot Potato, located near the Raptor roller coaster, guests can try:
- Brisket Burnt End Fries: Fresh-cut fries topped with bourbon-glazed brisket burnt ends and sweet drop peppers.
- Mike’s Hot Honey® Fries: Fresh-cut fries seasoned with Mike’s Hot Honey® seasoning and topped with fried cheese curds, sliced jalapeños and cayenne ranch.
Meet Happy Friar
Guests can also meet Happy Friar himself, the fan-favorite mascot inspired by Cedar Point’s signature fresh-cut fries stand. He will be available throughout the weekend for photos, greetings and celebratory selfies with fries fans of all ages.
Free Admission for Guests Named Fry
To make this year’s celebration even more memorable, guests whose last name is Fry or a variation of the word will receive free single-day admission to Cedar Point during Happy Friar’s Fresh-Cut Fries Fest. Eligible guests can present a valid government-issued photo ID at any Cedar Point entrance gate Sept. 10-13, 2026.

- Fryer
- Friar
- Fried
- Friedman
and other fry-adjacent variations.
HalloWeekends “Scream Peek”
Taking place during the same weekend, Cedar Point will also offer a special HalloWeekends Scream Peek Weekend, giving guests an early look at the park’s signature Halloween event.
The preview includes access to four indoor haunted mazes:
- Midnight
- Fearground Freak Show
- The Haunting of Eerie Estate
- Slaughter House
New and current Cedar Point Season Passholders will receive a free single-day Haunted Attractions Pass valid for entry to all four mazes during Scream Peek Weekend.
Right now, 2027 Season Passes are available now at the lowest price this year or next when purchased by Sept. 7, 2026.
